I belonged to the swimming club when I was a college student in the US, and the coach was an American lady.
What she hates the most was student's remark that “I cannot do it”.
When she heard this phrase from the student, she often screamed that “Think how you can overcome! No excuse!”
I have worked in many companies as a corporate employee and a self-employed consultant.
Interestingly, the idea of excuses varies at each company.
The following interesting phrases were found in the material to be introduced today “People who work fast, but don't make mistakes (Japanese only)”.
“It's a good excuse to say just the truth shortly rather than making a long sentence." (Unquote)
