「Objective」、「subjective」

PDCA (plan-do-check-action) Diary Vol. 114 "To solve a problem, it is important to call that issue with the correct name"】

One question several colleagues asked me at PDCA Cafe is "Why did Mr. PDCA choose the finance world as the first workplace?"

The biggest reason is that I was influenced by the foreign exchange market during my college days.

The next factor is that I was inspired by books written by the great financial analysts such as Mr. Peter Tasker and Mr. Richard Koo.

Mr. Tasker reiterated that "Interest rates in Japan would never rise in the twentieth century" in the first half of the 1990's, and nobody had said the same thing at that time.

Mr. Koo proposed a new concept of “Balance Sheet Recession” 20 years ago, “when the bubble collapses and the private sector is in debt repayment, the central bank will be effective even if the interest rate is lowered by the central bank".

The material to be introduced today "The Other Half of Macroeconomics and the Fate of Globalization", is Mr. Koo's new book, and it is highly recommended to people those who are not good at economics, because this book contains few complicated formula and the following phrase was impressive.

"The famous word of Mikhail Gorbachev (The last leader of the former Soviet Union) is that "To solve a problem, it is important to call that issue with the correct name."

Even in business, when challenges occur, it is possible to objectively analyze root causes and prevent recurrence if we can call that issue with the correct name.

If you don't call the problem with the correct name, you may have postponed or missed root causes and prevent recurrence.

"Calling the problem with the correct name" may be important and applicable in order solve private challenges :-).

Let's function PDCA today!
