< Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「形から入る」=「start with surface of things」>

Surface of things」は「物事の表面」という意味であり、「start with surface of things」は「物事の表面から始める」が直訳になります。

PDCA (plan-do-check-action) Diary Vol. 119 "Start with surface of things"】

In the world of martial arts, apprentices must learn the basics from the teacher.

Apprentices are supposed to learn what they have taught and then they can move on to the next stage.

In other words, apprentices have to start with the surface of things for the first time.

The material to be introduced today, “How to work faster with more fun (Japanese only)” emphasizes the importance to start with surfaces of things and the following phrases were impressive.

“Things aren't logical in the business world.

Sometimes, you just have to start with surface of things and will notice something while you keep doing the same thing.

Even though you try to ask your boss or seniors, there is no way to teach.

By trial and error, you would understand the principle of business and you can tell how important the practical experiences are." (Unquote)
