【PDCA日記 Vol. 162「シンプルにする」】
2016年に自営を始めて以降、私はお客様に「シンプルな仕組み」を提供し、分かりやすく短い報告を心掛けてきました。
今回紹介する資料「グーグル 10の黄金律 天才が集まる会社の仕事術」では、グーグル共同創業者であるエリック・シュミットが同社の人材育成の要諦として示した十カ条が紹介されています。
本書で興味深かったのは、「事業の成否はシンプルなものをつくり出せるかどうかで決まる」という部分で、以下の説明も印象的でした。
「日本のある電機メーカーの社員にアンケートを行ったところ、自社製品を使っていない社員、愛着を持たない社員が非常に多かったという話を聞いたことがある。
つくり手と使い手の感覚はただでさえ異なるのに、これでは製品から輝きが失われてしまう。」（引用終わり）
普段の業務でも自社製品であっても、「複雑だと分からない」状態に陥りがちであるため、シンプルにすることで、改善が続けやすくなるというメリットがあると感じています。

P.S. グーグルが掲げている10個の黄金律の内、5つ目は「自社製品を使わせろ」になっています。
私がコンサルタントとして心掛けていることの一つとして、「お世話になっている会社の商品やサービスを使い込む」ことがあります（本当に使い込んでいますよ :-)。
商品・サービスの感想や、改善が必要な点を経営者に伝えると、喜ばれることが多く、リピーターになってもらうための有効な手段であると感じています。
組織が大きくなればなるほど、経営者は自社の商品やサービスに関する意見を耳にする機会が減ります。
そのため、コンサルタントの立場から見て、「こうすればもっと良くなると思います」と具体的な改善案を伝えてあげるとより良いですね :-)。
トヨタ自動車の元社長が、「改善は永遠であり、終わりはない」と話していましたが、確かにその通りだと思います。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「黄金律」 = 「golden rule」＞
今回出てきた「黄金律」の英訳は、「golden rule」となります。
日本語だけで「黄金律」と見ると、意味が「？」になるかもしれませんが、英語で「golden rule」と表現する方がニュアンスをとらえやすいですね :-)。
The material to be introduced today "Golden 10 Rules of Google (Japanese only)" explains ten clauses of company's essence created by the co-founder of Google, Eric Schmidt.
The interesting part in this book was "The success or failure of the project depends on whether you can create simple products or not".
In addition, the below sentences were also impressive.
"In case you talk to Japanese electrical manufacturer employees, there were quite a lot of employees who do not use their own company's products.
Employees who do not use their own products, they will have no attachment. If the feeling of users and developers are different, the shine will be lost from products". (Unquote)
Even in normal business processes, we need to keep making it simple so that team members easily understand the structure.
By making simple products, employees will use them and the improvement will continue, because developers would be able to receive a lot of feedback from their colleagues.
