【PDCA日記 Vol. 171「脳は現状維持が大好き」】
先日のPDCAカフェで、「新しいことを始めたいのですが、踏ん切りがつきません」という悩みをお持ちの方がいました。
これはある意味で当たり前であり、今回紹介する資料「思い描いた未来が現実になる ゴールドビジョン」は、「脳は現状維持が大好き」と以下のように説明しています。
「脳は現状維持が大好きです。
これは生き残るための、いわば動物としての本能といえるでしょう。
人間も動物ですから、やはり放っておけば、脳は本能的に現状を維持しようとします。」（引用終わり）
「自営や起業の準備が整ってから、会社を退職しようと思っています」という人の場合、いつまで経っても準備が整うことなく、時間だけが過ぎていくというパターンをよく目にします。
当たり前ですが、ビジネスにおいて完全な準備をすることは不可能であり、どこかの時点で見切り発車せざるを得ないのが実情でしょう。
私の場合、「ひとまず会社を出て自営を始める」という手法を採用したため、準備という準備はほとんどできていませんでした。
それでも何とかなったため、健康であれば何とかなるということですね :-)。

P.S. 今回紹介した資料「思い描いた未来が現実になる ゴールドビジョン」が唱えている通り、「脳は現状維持が大好き」ということは、事実だと思います。
一方で、人間は洞窟の中から出てきて未開の地を耕し、大海を渡ってフロンティアを見つけ出そうとするなど、リスク・テイカーの一面を持っていることも事実と言えるでしょう。
金融商品への投資について、一部の方は「ギャンブルである」と強調しますが、金融機関で働く人たちは何と呼んでいるかご存知でしょうか？
「ポジションを取る」と言います :-)。
面白いでしょう？
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「現状維持」 = 「Maintenance of the status quo」＞
今回出てきた「現状維持」の英訳は、「Maintenance of the status quo」となります。
少し長いですが、覚えておくと便利な表現で、「現状を維持する」と言いたい場合は、「maintain the status quo」とすればよいですね :-)。
In the PDCA cafe the other day, there was a person who had a challenge by saying "I would like to start a new thing, but I can't step forward".
This is natural in a sense, and the material to be introduced today “Gold Vision that makes the future envisioned a reality (Japanese only)” explains that “the brain loves to maintain the status quo” as follows.
“The brain loves maintaining the status quo.
It can be said that this is an instinct for animals to survive.
Since humans are also animals, if they are left alone, the brain will instinctively maintain the current state." (Unquote)
Some people are saying that “I'm planning to leave this company after I'm ready for my own business”, but they cannot be ready forever as a common case.
Obviously, it is impossible to make a complete preparation in business, and it will be necessary to start at some point.
In my case, because I quit the bank by thinking that “It will be OK if I start my own business” and to be honest, I was hardly prepared.
However, I could survive and if you are healthy, everything would be manageable :-).
