【PDCA日記 Vol. 515「レモンをピーチに」】
私はフランスで学生に戻っていた頃、ビジネスだけではなく、経済学関連の授業にも結構出席していました。
行動経済学はビジネスにおいても注目されており、経済学の理論を学ぶことは、私のビジネス・ライフに色々な意味でプラスになっていると感じています。
今回紹介する資料「モビリティ・エコノミクス」は、「ブロックチェーンが拓く新たな経済圏」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「レモン市場と情報の非対称性」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「レモン市場（The Market for Lemons）ー
UCバークレーやLSE（ロンドン・スクール・オブ・エコノミクス）で教鞭を執り、2001年ノーベル経済学賞を受賞したジョージ・アカロフ教授（Prof. George A. Akerlof）が、1970年に発表した論文のテーマである。
レモンは皮が厚くて外見から中身の見分けがつかないことから、主に米国では低品質の中古車のことを『レモン』と呼ぶ。
逆に、外見の良し悪しが比較的容易にわかるものは『ピーチ（桃）』と言う。
『レモン市場』では、売り手は取引する中古車の価値を十分にわかっているが、買い手は売り手と同等の情報を持っていない。
この売り手と買い手の間で情報の量と質に格差がある状況を、『情報の非対称性（Information Asymmetry』と呼ぶ。
情報の非対称性は、主に2つの社会構成の悪化をもたらす。
第1に、逆選択（Adverse Selection）という、市場から良質な財・サービスが排除されることがある。
第2に、情報の非対称性を利用して自分自身の利益を最大化させようとする、機会主義的な行動が生まれるといった、モラルハザードが発生することである。
情報の非対称性を解消するソリューションのひとつとして、ブロックチェーンの活用が注目されている。
非改ざん性のある取引データをブロックチェーン上で管理・共有できるようにした、信頼の仕組みを構築できれば、財やサービスの品質の不確実性を低減することができるからだ。」（引用終わり）

P.S. 情報の非対称性は、金融商品のやり取りや不動産の売買でも見られます。
以前は、金融商品の手数料が見えない状態で売られていたこともあって、金融機関側が「ファット・スプレッド（厚いサヤ、マージン）」と呼ばれる法外な手数料を顧客から取っていました。
日本では2007年に金融商品取引法が施行され、金融機関が顧客に対してリスクをきちんと説明するだけではなく、手数料を明示することが求められるようになりました。
金融商品取引法によって、情報の非対称性は縮まりましたが、プロとアマチュアでは圧倒的な差が現在もあります。
不動産取引にも情報の非対称性は存在しており、マンションや戸建ての適正価格は、誰にも分からないものです。
最近は、人工知能（AI）を用いて不動産の適正価格を提示するサービスが出ていますが、普通の人が「適正な価格」を判断することは、かなりチャレンジングであると私は感じています。
情報の非対称性がある市場では、「取引しない」ことが一つの選択肢であると私は思っています。
その証拠に、私は不動産やデリバティブなどの取引は一切していません。
「分からないことは分からない」と言えることが、ビジネスでは重要です。
適正価格が不明な市場で取引しないことは、ソクラテスが述べた「無知の知」なのかもしれませんね :-)。
P.S.2. 今回紹介する資料「モビリティ・エコノミクス」では、フォード創業者のヘンリー・フォードの組織論に関する名言が紹介されていました。
「一緒に集まることは出発点。一緒に居続けることは進歩。そして、お互いの力を発揮し合えれば、成功である。（Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.）」（ヘンリー・フォード名言終わり）
ヘンリー・フォードの上記名言は会社組織だけではなく、プライベートにおける家族やパートナーとの関係にも、当てはまるのかもしれませんね😊。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「情報の非対称性」=「information asymmetry」＞
今回出てきた「情報の非対称性」の英訳は、「information asymmetry」になります。
「レモン市場と情報の非対称性」を英語にする場合、「Lemon market and information asymmetry」とすればよいですね😊。

Second, there are moral hazards, such as trying to maximize one's own interests by taking advantage of information asymmetry and creating opportunistic behavior.
The use of blockchain is attracting attention as one of the solutions to eliminate information asymmetry.
This is because if we can build a trust mechanism that enables the management and sharing of non-tampering transaction data on the blockchain, we can reduce the uncertainty of the quality of goods and services." (Unquote)
