私は最初の仕事が営業だったのですが、2005年前後は取引先との関係もあって、横浜や千葉で開催されていたJリーグの試合をよく観戦しにいったものです。
2005年にジェフ・ユナイテッド千葉を指揮していたのは名将イビチャ・オシムであり、当時のジェフのサッカーは本当に面白かったことを記憶しています。
サッカーの素人である私からしても、「この人たちはこんなに走って大丈夫なのだろうか？」と思えるくらいにオシム・チルドレンと呼ばれていたジェフの選手たちは動き回っていました。
その後、オシムは日本代表を率いることになりますが、彼の名声が世界にとどろいたのは、1990年のイタリア・ワールドカップです。
ユーゴスラビアをイタリア・ワールドカップでベスト8まで押し上げたオシムでしたが、2年後の1992年ユーロ（欧州選手権）開催直前に自国で始まった戦争に抗議する形で、ユーゴスラビア代表監督を辞任することになります。
今回紹介する資料「オシム 終わりなき闘い」は、日本代表監督退任後のオシムの軌跡を描いている興味深い資料で、以下のモチベーションに関する記述が印象的でした。
「モチベーションというものは減るものだ。
厄介なのはちょっとでもそれが足りなくなるとすぐ結果として現れる。
モチベーションは感情のように常に移り変わるから、そこでいろいろな問題が現れる。
永久にキープできないし、自分でコントロールするのは非常に難しい。
私は常にモチベーションを持ち続けている人を見たことがない。」（引用終わり）
6年前の2014年、ボスニア・サッカー協会は内部抗争もあって、FIFA（国際サッカー連盟）とUEFA（欧州サッカー連盟）から除名され、ブラジル・ワールドカップへの出場が危ぶまれる事態に直面していました。
現在のボスニアは主に3つの民族で構成されていますが、2014年前半までボスニア・サッカー協会にも会長が3人存在しており、FIFAとUEFAから会長の一元化が求められ、それが実現するまでは、国際試合に参加できない状況になっていたのです。
それを救ったのがオシムであり、正常化委員会と呼ばれる組織が設立され、様々な政治家とのやり取りの結果、ボスニア・サッカー協会は会長が1人になり、代表チームは国際大会への復帰が認められ、ブラジル・ワールドカップへの出場を果たしたのでした。

P.S. 2006年までジェフの監督を務めていたオシムですが、当時のジェフのHPで「オシム語録」が紹介されており、オシムの様々な名言が掲載されていました。
オシム語録の中で、私が一番好きなフレーズは以下の内容です。
「（肉離れを起こした選手について）ライオンに追われたウサギが逃げ出す時に、肉離れをしますか？要は準備が足りないのです」（by オシム）
（アジェンダがない会合について）「アジェンダがない会合で、議事録をすぐに作成できますか？要は準備が足りないのです」 （by Mr. PDCA）
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「正常化」 = 「normalization」＞
今回出てきた「正常化」を英訳するのは中々チャレンジングですが、「normalization」が一つの表現方法になります。
「正常化する」と動詞形にする場合、「normalize」とすればよいですね😊。
本日は、イギリス・ドイツ・フランスの合作スパイ映画「裏切りのサーカス」 を紹介します。
原作は小説「ティンカー、テイラー、ソルジャー、スパイ」で、こちらも面白かったですね😊。
映画「裏切りのサーカス」では、東西冷戦の真っ只中の諜報戦が描かれています。
イギリスの諜報機関が旧ソ連のスパイ達と情報戦を繰り広げ、ロンドン警視庁公安部も入り混じって泥仕合を演じています。
外務省で働きたいと考えている人にとって、今回紹介する映画「裏切りのサーカス」はお勧めの作品ですね😊。

My first job was sales and I was doing business with football related representatives around 2005.
Due to this business relationship, I often went to watch the professional football games held in Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures (near Tokyo).
In 2005, Ivica Osim was a coach at JEF United Chiba (one of Japan's professional football teams) and JEF's football was very interesting at that time.
I am an amateur of football, but JEF's players kept running unbelievably and I was wondering "Are they really all right by running such a long distance?"
Osim was invited to Japan's national team in 2006, but he became famous globally in the 1990 World Cup held in Italy.
Osim was leading Yugoslavia national team in 1990 and advanced to the quarterfinals in Italy world Cup.
He resigned the coach of Yugoslavia national team in 1992, just before EURO (European Championship), in order to protest the war began in his country.
The material to be introduced today "Osim's Last Battle (Japanese only)" was explaining how Osim lived after retiring from Japan's national team coach and the following descriptions about motivation were impressive.
"Motivation is changeable.
If motivation is low, it would be appear as a result quickly and various problems occur.
We cannot keep motivation for good and it is difficult to control by ourselves.
I have never seen a person who always keeps motivation high." (Unquote)
In 2014, Bosnia Football Association was expelled from the FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) and UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) due to internal conflicts and participation in Brazil World Cup was in danger.
Currently, Bosnia is composed of major 3 ethnic groups, and until the beginning of 2014, there were 3 presidents in Bosnia Football Association.
FIFA and UEFA requested Bosnia to unify presidential positions and the national team could not participated in international matches.
Osim saved this crisis and the institution called "Normalization Committee" was established in 2014.
As a result of negotiations with various politicians by Osim, 1 president was elected from Bosnia Football Association, and the national team was allow to return to the international convention and Bosnia could attend Brazil World Cup in 2014.
