【PDCA日記 Vol. 955「材木の確保は資金調達と同じ？」】
今回紹介する資料「軍需物資から見た戦国合戦」は、「読みなおす日本史」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「材木の確保が戦国大名にとっては重要だった」部分の以下フレーズが印象的
でした。
「城郭のプランは基本的に土塁と堀で囲まれた曲輪（くるわ）の組み合わせであるが、先に見たように堀、尺木（しゃくぎ）も存在した。
天守閣が作られたのは織豊期に入ってからだが、城内には城主や家臣が住む屋敷、食料や武器を収蔵する倉庫などが建造されていた。
また、曲輪の入り口（いわゆる虎口）には門、曲輪の隅には槍（矢倉）が設置されることがあった。
こうした建造物は言うまでもなく各種の材木を使って建造され、その確保が戦国大名にとって重要であった。」（引用終わり）

P.S. 私の父方の祖父は大工だったのですが、勉強が好きな人で、仕事が終わった後、提灯を持って1時間程歩いて、夜学に通っていたそうです。
私が幼少期、大工だった祖父は木の話を色々としてくれた覚えがあるのですが、「雨が降ると収入がなくなる」と言っていたことだけが頭の中に残っています。
昔の大工の場合、雨が降ると作業が続けられないため、晴れの日が多い年と雨の日が多い年では収入が違っていたそうです。
戦国時代の城を建造していた大工は更にチャレンジングな日々だったでしょうが、当時の材木確保が現在の資金調達と同じようだったように、戦国武将にとっては、大工の確保が現在の経営者にとっての人材確保に近いのかもしれませんね😊。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「材木」 = 「timber」＞
今回出てきた「材木」の英訳は、「timber」になります。
「材木の確保は資金調達と同じだった」を英語で表現する場合、「Securing timber was the same as financing」とすればよいですね😊。

【マドモアゼルPDCAコメント】今回紹介する映画「一分間タイムマシン」では、主人公が何度も死ぬシーンが出てきます。
それでも、1分間は時間を戻せるため、蘇ることができることになっています。
この辺りの展開も、面白かったですね😊。

P.S. My paternal grandfather was a carpenter, but he liked studying.
After work, he walked for about an hour with a lantern and went to night school.
My grandfather, who was a carpenter when I was a child, had been telling me a lot about trees, but the only thing left in my mind is that he said, "If it rains, I will lose my income".
In case of old carpenters, it seems that the income was different between the year with many sunny days and the year with many rainy days, because the work could not be continued when it rained.
The carpenters who built the castle during the Warring States period would have been more challenging days.
For the Warring States warlords, securing carpenters must be similar with corporate management, just as securing timber at that time was the same as raising funds today 😊.
