<Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「絆を感じる」=「feel a bond with」>

PDCA (plan-do-check-action) Diary Vol. 1,161 "Relationship between Bonds & Happiness"】

When I was a banker, there was a colleague who was considered to be a top management in the future, but I heard some unexpected words from him.

"I wanted to go to a music university, but my parents told me to go to a national university in order to study laws. Due to this pressure, I had to give up music. I didn't really want to be a banker, but my parents wanted me to work in the traditional world."

He also said that he still regretted for giving up music when he was a high school student.

It was a moment when I learned that even those who seemed to be successful have some challenges in their hearts.

In Japan, people tend to be influenced by their parents' opinions at the time of choosing school or finding a job.

The material to be introduced today “Philosophy for Living (Japanese only)" has a catchphrase that "This book is a prescription given to all people with difficulty for living” and the following phrase was impressive.

"People tend to think that it is a good thing to keep a strong bond with parents, but sometimes, that bond might cause challenging situations." (Unquote)

This book mentions the possibility that strong parent-child bonds can lead to challenges, and my former colleague mentioned above might be one of the examples.

The book also states that "As long as you can live on your own, the courage to break the bond is sometimes necessary".

Herman Hesse, the author of "Beneath the Wheel", is also known to have challenges for the relationship with his parents.
