【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,224「全て自分で調達」】
私は家族がレストランを経営していることもあって、色々なグルメ漫画を読んでいます。
グルメ漫画の中では料理シーンが数多く出てきますが、食材を自ら調達しようとする主人公はあまりいません。
「美味しんぼ」の山岡さんが「あんこう漁」に出ることなどはありましたが、当然ながら船の上で漁師のサポートを得ていました。
今回紹介する「トリコ」では、主人公がアフリカの僻地まで食材を自力で見つけにいきます。
日本でも地方に行くと、自分の畑で育てた作物を自分のレストランで提供するパターンはありますが、トリコのように海外まで食材を取りに行く人は殆どいないでしょう。
トリコのように動くことは危険であり、そもそも法の縛りがある可能性が高いためです。
今回紹介する「トリコ」は、食の尊さを知る上でも役に立つ作品です😊。
往年の名作漫画「MASTERキートン」の主人公であるキートンは考古学研究者でありながら、元は特殊部隊の隊長でした。
英国陸軍特殊空挺部隊（SAS）に所属していたキートンは、敵地に乗り込む際、基本的に武器などを持って行きません。
SASの隊員は必要なものは全て現地調達することが原則で、武器を自分で作ったり、砂漠で水を生み出す方法などについて、訓練を受けています。
歴史の勉強にもなるため、「MASTERキートン」はお勧めの漫画です😊。

P.S. 知っている人は知っているかもしれませんが、私はかなりのハンバーガー・マニアです🍔。
また、家族がイタリア料理レストランを経営していることもあって、ピザ・マニアでもあります。
私がハンバーガー屋に行った時、確認する事項は以下の通りです。
①コーラが飲み放題であるか。
②マスタード、ケチャップが使い放題であるか。
③ポテトが揚げたてであるか。
上記3項目を全て満たしているお店は中々ないのですが、お気に入りのハンバーガー屋はいくつかありますので、興味がある方はPDCAランチに行きましょう🍔。
「ハンバーガーの発想と組み立て」という本は、「ハンバーガー界のレジェンドが、グルメバーガーの方法論 / レシピビルド表を完全公開」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「グルメバーガーとファストフードハンバーガーのカテゴリー」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「グルメバーガーとファストフードのハンバーガーは、同じ食べ物のようで決して同じではなく、食べる動機も状況も違う。
そう考えると、『美味しいこと』の感じ方も人それぞれで、"味覚"だけがその判断基準ではなく、ある人には『今ここでリーズナブルにすぐ食べられる"機能性"が美味しい』とする場合もある。
つまり、機能的観点から見ると、じっくりと時間をかけてミートパティを焼き上げ趣向を凝らしたビルドをするグルメバーガーが一概に美味しいわけではないのだ。」（引用終わり）
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「調達する」 = 「procure」＞
今回出てきた「調達する」の英訳は、「procure」になります。
「全て自分で調達する」を英語で表現する場合、「Procure everything yourself」とすればよいですね😊。

There are a lot gourmet cartoons in Japan, but there are not many heroes who procure ingredients by themselves.
The material introduced today "Toriko (Japanese only)" goes to the remote areas of Africa to find the ingredients on his own.
Even in Japan, if you go to rural areas, there is a pattern that restaurant owners are providing the crops he or she grows in your his or her fields, but no one will go abroad to get food.
It's dangerous and there is a high possibility that there will be legal restrictions in the first place.
This comic is also useful to know the value of food.
