【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,225「洞窟に住む生物の目」】
今回紹介する資料「なぜ人はドキドキするのか? 」で印象深いのは、「洞窟に住む生物が目を失った理由」部分です。
洞窟の中で一生を終える生物は、「真洞窟性（しんどうけつせい）動物」と呼ばれます。
真洞窟性動物は洞窟生活に適した進化を遂げており、その一例が目の退化です。
真洞窟性動物が目を失うことは、世界中で確認されています。
洞窟には食料が少ないため、「エネルギーを節約するために目を失うのではないか」という研究報告がスウェーデンのルンド大学から発表されています。
今回紹介する資料「なぜ人はドキドキするのか? 」によると、「従来の仮説は光がない洞窟の中で暮らすようになったから、目が不要になった」というものでした。
しかしながら、「目を使うエネルギーを節約するために目を失った」という新たな仮説が登場したわけです。
科学者たちの想像力には、果てしない可能性が詰まっているようですね😊。

新型コロナウイルス騒動で世界中が混乱に陥りましたが、私は野生のオランウータンの生き方が参考になると考えています。
野生のオランウータンが成人する確率は96%であり、チンパンジーは約50%、伝統的な狩猟採集生活を行っているヒト（アフリカのハッザ族）60％程度です。
オランウータンの生存率は野生動物としてはありえないほど高い背景には、高い樹の上で単独生活をしていることがあります。
人間を含めて、類人猿は集団で生活しますが、オランウータンは単独行動を取るため、感染症が蔓延しにくく、樹の上で生きていることから、トラなどから襲われる確率も低くなっています。
ビジネス界で生き残るため、オランウータンをはじめとする生物界の強者（？）たちから学べることは多いのです。
というわけで、皆様も生物学の本を読みましょう😊。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「洞窟」 = 「cave」＞
今回出てきた「洞窟」の英訳は、「cave」になります。
「洞窟に住む生物の目」を英語で表現する場合、「Eyes of creatures living in the cave」とすればよいですね😊。

Due to the lack of food in the cave, a research report "They lose their eyes to save energy" has been published by Lund University in Sweden.
According to this book "The conventional hypothesis is that animals live in a cave without light, so they no longer need their eyes."
However, a new hypothesis has emerged: "They lost their eyes to save energy using their eyes."
It seems that scientists' imagination is full of endless possibilities😊.

The new coronavirus turmoil has confused the world, but I think the wild orangutan's way of life is helpful.
There is a 96% chance that a wild orangutan will grow up, about 50% for a chimpanzee.
The survival rate of orangutans is so high that it is impossible for wild animals to live alone on tall trees.
Apes, including humans, live in groups, but orangutans act alone, making it difficult for infectious diseases to spread, and because they live on trees, the probability of being attacked by tigers is low.
To survive in the business world, we can learn a lot from the orangutans and other strong creatures in the biological world.
So let's read a biology book too 😊.
