【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,383「本当の美人はいない？」】
国や地域によって、美意識は違っているものです。
アメリカでは歯並びの美しさが重視されており、歯並びが悪いと就職面談などでもマイナスの影響が出ると言われています。
一方、日本では未だに「八重歯が可愛い」という美意識があるようで、歯並びの悪さがプラスになるケースもあるみたいです。
今回紹介する資料「「美人」は、生まれつきではなく、テクニック」は「本当の美人はほとんどいない」とも述べており、「美人の8割は雰囲気美人」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「私は、美人の8割は雰囲気美人だと思います。
実際に、結婚相談所のコンサルタントの方も、美人に見える人は、自分に似合うメイクやファッションが上手な人がほとんどだと教えてくれました。
そして、髪と肌が美しければ、それだけで目鼻立ちをグッとカバーしてくれます。」（引用終わり）

P.S. 私は男性ですが、銀行員時代、ネクタイをすることが嫌で嫌でしょうがありませんでした。
自由な服装を求めて、自営を始めたくらいですが、服装の観点からすると、女性は男性よりも選択肢が多いと言えるでしょう。
男性の場合、女性のようにメイクやファッションで、カッコ良さを強調することはチャレンジングです。
出来ることと言えば、筋力トレーニングや規則正しい生活を送って、肌の状態を良好に保つことくらいですかね :-)。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「生まれつきの」=「congenital」＞
今回出てきた「生まれつきの」の英訳は、「congenital」になります。
「彼は生まれつきの開発者だ」を英語にする場合、「He is a congenital engineer」とすればよいですね :-)。
From my own experience, I feel that each country has different aesthetics.
In the United States, the beauty of teeth is emphasized, and it is said that if your teeth aren't straigh, there will be a negative impact on job interviews.
On the other hand, in Japan, there exists an aesthetic sense that “Double teeth are cute”, and crooked teeth are considered as cute.
The material to be introduced today "Beauty is not congenital, but the technique (Japanese only)" reiterates that "There are almost no real beauty" and the following phrases were impressive in the part of "Beauty is 80% beautiful".
“80% of beautiful women are beautiful in the atmosphere.
In fact, the consultant at the marriage counselor told me that most of the people who are considered as beautiful are good at makeup and fashion that look good to them.
And if your hair and skin are beautiful, it will cover your eyes and nose." (Unquote)
