【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,386「持ち帰って検討しすぎ」】
私が自営を始めて良かったことの一つに、「全て自分で決められる」ということがありました。
銀行員時代、大きな話になると、「持ち帰って検討します」と言わなければなりませんでした（当たり前ですが :-)。
外国人の中には、「最初から判断できる担当者が出てくるべき」と考えている人が多く、「持ち帰るのであれば、最初からメールだけですませた」というクレーム（？）を言ってくるケースもありました。
今回紹介する資料「世界一速く結果を出す人は、なぜ、メールを使わないのか」は、「 グーグルの個人・チームで成果を上げる方法」を解説しており、「持ち帰って検討しすぎる」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「日本で仕事をしていて気づいたのは、『持ち帰って検討します』と言って、先延ばしにするケースが多いことです。
仕事を『持ち帰る』と、いつまでたっても終わりません。
どうしてもその場で解決できないときでも、『今その場でわかること』『今返事できること』を見つけて少しでも進めておくべきです。」（引用終わり）

＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「先延ばしにする」=「procrastinate」＞
今回出てきた「先延ばしにする」の英訳は幾つか候補がありますが、「procrastinate」が一つの表現方法になります。
「依頼への回答を先延ばしにしたため、わが社は注文を逃してしまった」を英語にする場合、「We missed the order, because we procrastinated the response to the request」とすればよいですね :-)。
One of the good things about starting self-employment was that I could decide everything by myself.
When I was a banker, I had to say "I'll go back to the company and consider it" for big items.
The material to be introduced today “Why capable people don't use e-mail?” explains “How to achieve results at Google as individuals and teams” and the following phrases were impressive.
“What I noticed when I was working in Japan was that business persons often procrastinated to make decision by saying 'I'll go back to the company and consider it'.
If you go back to company and consider, your work will never end.
Even when you can't solve it on the spot, you should find 'What you can do right now' or 'What you can answer now' and move forward." (Unquote)
