【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,125「良い戦略は単純明快」】
私が学生に戻っていた頃、「経営戦略」という授業がありました。
この授業では、2週間に一回課題が与えられ、学生はレポート提出が義務付けられていました。
この授業が特徴的だったのは、レポートを「A4の裏表1枚にまとめる」というルールがあったことです。
この授業を担当していた教授は、元戦略コンサルタントであり、「顧客へのプレゼンも1枚にまとめるべき」が持論でした。
コンサルタントの場合、忙しい経営者を相手にプレゼンをすることになります。
この教授は「レポートをA4の紙1枚にまとめることによって、CEOや社長にとって読むインセンティブを提示することができる」とも述べていました。
企業経営者の場合、あらゆる局面で時間を重視しながら動くものです。
移動手段を電車ではなく、タクシーやハイヤーを選ぶ社長が多いのは、時間短縮につながるからでしょう。
今回紹介する資料「コンサルタントのフレームワーク」で印象深いのは、「良い戦略は単純明快」部分です。
今回紹介する資料「コンサルタントのフレームワーク」では、1991年の湾岸戦争における「砂漠の嵐作戦」が例として挙げられています。
米軍は「空・陸の両面作戦」を採用し、まず空爆でイラク軍の戦闘能力を半減させました。
その後、地上戦では敵の左側から攻撃を集中する「左フック作戦」を展開し、地上戦はわずか100時間で終了しました。
ナポレオンが得意とした側面攻撃が、近代戦で実施されたことに軍事評論家は驚いたそうですが、「砂漠の嵐作戦」はビジネスパーソンにとって示唆に富む内容でした。
コンサルタント志望の方に、今回紹介する資料「コンサルタントのフレームワーク」はおすすめの一冊です。

私の場合、文章作成で「一文を短くすること」だけを意識しています。
一文を短くすることで、内容は単純明快になります。
逆に言えば、長い文章は単純明快ではなく分かりにくいです。
また、主語と述語の距離が離れるほど、文章は分かりにくくなります。
裁判所の文章が分かりにくい理由は、長くて主語と述語が離れているからですね😊。
＜Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「単純明快」=「straightforward」＞
今回出てきた「単純明快」の英訳は、「straightforward」になります。
「良い戦略は単純明快」を英語にする場合、「Good strategies are straightforward」とすればよいですね😊。
本日は、映画「放課後ソーダ日和」を紹介します。
映画「放課後ソーダ日和」は、3人の女子高生が色々な喫茶店やカフェを回り、クリームソーダを食べ続ける物語です。
この映画を鑑賞して私は初めて知ったのですが、クリームソーダはお店によって特徴があるそうです。
そう言えば、私が高校生の時に「チョコレートパフェ・クラブ」というものがありました。
このクラブは色々な喫茶店を回って、チョコレートパフェを食べる活動を行っていました。
このエントリーはあるファミリーレストランで執筆しているのですが、ストロベリーパフェのメニューが目の前にあったため、思わず注文してしまいました。
映画「放課後ソーダ日和」をみて、「ムダな時間はムダではない」というある人の言葉を思い出しました。
時にはムダな時間を過ごすことも必要ですよね。

When I was studying at business school, there was a class called "Management Strategy".
In this class, assignments were given once every two weeks and students were required to submit a report.
What was characteristic of this class was that there was a rule that the report should be put together on the front and back of A4.
The professor who was in charge of this class was a former strategic consultant, and his theory was that "presentations to customers should be combined into one sheet".
If you are a consultant, you will be presenting to busy business managers.
"By putting the report on a single sheet of A4 paper, you can provide incentives for the CEO and President to read," he said.
In the case of business managers, they move with an emphasis on time in every aspect.
Many CEOs and Presidents choose taxis or hire cars instead of trains as a means of transportation, probably because it saves time.
What impresses me in the material introduced today "Consultant Framework (Japanese only)" is in the part "Good strategy is simple and clear".
In this book, "Operation Desert Storm" in the 1991 Gulf War is given as an example.
The U.S. military adopted "two-sided air and land operations," and first halved the Iraqi army's combat capabilities with air strikes.
After that, in the ground battle, they developed a "left hook operation" that concentrates attacks from the left side of the enemy, and the ground battle ended in just 100 hours.
Military critics were surprised that Napoleon's flanking maneuver was carried out in the modern war, but "Operation Desert Storm" was thought-provoking for business persons.

P.S. As I introduced in the past PDCA diary, not only strategies but also good sentences are often simple and clear.
In my case, I am only conscious of "shortening one sentence" when writing sentences.
By shortening one sentence, the content becomes simple and clear.
Conversely, long sentences are not straightforward and difficult to understand for readers.
Also, the farther the subject and predicate are, the harder it is to understand the sentence.
The reason why the court texts are difficult to understand is that the subject and predicate are long and far apart 😊.
