【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,531「経営者に向いていない性格とは？」】
アメリカの映画を鑑賞していると、保険に加入していないため、きちんとした医療を受けられない人の話が時々出てきます。
私自身、2000年代前半にニューヨークで働き始めた際、最初に会社から「この中から自分で民間の保険を選んでね」と言われ、一番保険料が安い医療保険を選んだ記憶があります :-)。
今回紹介する資料「経営コンサルタントの教科書」は、「「良い経営」の本質と実践が分かる本」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「会社をつぶす社長の特徴は？」部分の以下のフレーズが印象的でした。
「会社をつぶしてしまう社長に当てはまる典型的な特徴として、次の3つを挙げることができます。
大雑把で見栄っ張り、そして、反省をしないような人物は、経営者に向いていません。」（引用終わり）

P.S. 事業を長年継続している企業では、財務諸表に基づいて事実を述べ、定量的な目標設定が行われているケースが多いように感じています。
数字に沿ってビジネスを進めることによって、「おかしい」ところは「おかしい」と指摘できるようになります。
定性的な感覚によって事業を行ってしまうと、「おかしい」と周囲が考えていても、定量的な数字や根拠を示すことがチャレンジングになりがちで、大きな赤字が計上されるまで状況を改善できなくなります。
自分が「大雑把で見栄っ張り、反省をしない」と考えている人は、数字に基づいて話をするように心がけるだけでも、かなり良くなると思います :-)。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「向いていない」=「not suitable」＞
今回出てきた「向いていない」の英訳は、「not suitable」になります。
「彼は管理職に向いていない」を英語にする場合、「He is not suitable for a manager」とすればよいですね :-)。
Watching American movies sometimes tells people who don't have insurance and can't get proper medical care.
When I first started working in New York in the early 2000s, I was first told by a company, "Please choose private insurance from among these," and I remember choosing the cheapest medical insurance. :-).
The material to be introduced today "Management Consultant's Textbook (Japanese only)" has the catchphrase of "Book that Understands the Essence and Practice of Good Management" and the following phrases were impressive.
"There are three typical features that apply to a president who crushes the company:
A person who is crude, prosperous, and does not reflect on him/her is not suitable for business owners." (Unquote)
