PDCA日記 Vol. 1,986「日本と海外の文章作成方法の違い」
今は動画の時代ですが、ビジネスにおいては文章の時代だったりします。
オンライン会合が全盛ですが、スラックやチャットでコミュニケーションを取るケースが多く、短くて分かりやすい文章を書くニーズが高まっているからです。
このブログでも、短くて分かりやすい文章作成を心がけています。
「一文を短くする」ことを意識するだけで、これから書くメールやチャットが分かりやすくなりますので、皆様も試してみてください。
今回紹介する資料「論理的思考とは何か」は「論理的思考法は世界共通ではない」をキャッチフレーズにしており、以下のフレーズが印象的でした。
「日本では西洋と一括りに論じられることが多いアメリカとフランスの小論文の構造は実は全く異なっており、相手国で自国の小論文の型で書くと、『何を言っているのか分からない』、『つながりが不明』、『全く不十分な議論』、そして『論理的でない』と落第点がつけられるのである。
なぜそんなことが起こるかといえば、作文を書く目的が異なるからである。
結論を先取りするならば、アメリカ式のエッセイは、自己の主張を分かりやすく効率的に論証して、相手を説得することが目的であるのに対して、フランス式小論文の目的は、時間をかけてあらゆる可能性を吟味し矛盾を解決すること、それを公共の福祉という政治的判断に生かすことです」（引用終わり）

偶然ですが、私もアメリカとフランスで生活をしていました。
確かに、アメリカとフランスは全く別の国であり、文化や考えも相反する部分が多かったですね。

＜ 本日のボンジュール英語「世界共通である」 = 「universal」＞
今回出てきた「世界共通である」の英訳は、「universal」になります。
「論理的思考法は世界共通ではない」を英語で表現する場合、「Logical thinking is not universal」とすればよいですね😊。
We live in the age of video, but in business it is also the age of writing.
