【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,572「諦めるのはまだ早い」】
私はビジネス書だけではなく、小説も毎週1冊は読むようにしています。
小説には、色々な社会風刺が含まれていることもあって、ビジネスに役立つコンテンツもかなりあります :-)。
今回紹介する資料「本好きの下剋上」は、「紙のない世界で本を作る」というチャレンジングなミッションに挑む主人公のマインが奮闘する物語で、「エジプト文明、リスペクト中」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「紙を作る過程における最初…材料である木を得るところでつまずいているのである。
結論。
できるわけない。
だがしかし、諦めるのはまだ早い。
政治的に、経済的に必要で、記録してきた長い歴史が地球にはある。
ずっと記録はしてきたが、機械で作られた紙ができたのなんて、それほど昔のことではない。」（引用終わり）
P.S. 自営を始めたり、起業をしたりした人がPDCAカフェにやってきて、「制約が多すぎる」とコメントされることがあります。
ビジネスにおいては、「制約がない」状況というのは基本的にありません。
あらゆる制約がある中で、効率的で顧客に喜んでもらえる商品・サービスを提供することがビジネスであり、「制約の中にチャンスがある」と考えることが、経営者には必要なのでしょうね。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「まだ早い」 = 「still early」＞
今回出てきた「まだ早い」の英訳は、「still early」になります。
「諦めるのはまだ早い」を英語で表現する場合、「Still early to give up」とすればよいですね :-)。
I read not only business books but also one novel each week.
The novels contain a lot of social satire, so there is a lot of content that is useful for business :-).
