【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,948「ゾウでも読書で成功できる？」】
このブログで数多くの書籍を紹介しているせいか、「どうすれば読書を続けられますか？」という質問を頂くことがあります。
私の場合、2011年に大学院を卒業してから1日1冊本を読んでいるため、習慣になっています。
歯磨きなどと同じで続けていると習慣になり、意識しなくても継続できるようになります。
読書の効果は科学的に確認されており、読書量とビジネスの成功ははっきりとした相関があります。
「年収を上げるにはどうすればよいか？」という質問を頂くこともありますが、私の回答は読書になりますね。
今回紹介する資料「マイ国家」は、星新一のショートショート集の一つです。
ショートショートは色々な意味で示唆に富んでいるのですが、私が一番好きな作品は「服を着たゾウ」です。
「わたし（ゾウ）の心の奥に、おまえは人間だ、という声がひそんでいるのです。
しかし、人間とはなにか、わたしにはよくわからなかった。
そこで、本を読んで勉強したのです。
人間とはどういうものか、人間ならなにをすべきか、などについてです。
つねに学び、考え、その通りにやってきただけです。
わたしが世の役に立っているとすれば、このためかもしれません。
あなたがた、自分が人間であると考えたことがおありですか。」（引用終わり）

私がこれまで会ったビジネスパーソンで一番の読書家は、銀行員時代の代表取締役でした。
この人は私の元上司でもあるのですが、時々お会いするといつも本をプレゼントしてくれます。
私が本をプレゼントする習慣は、元上司の習慣でもあったわけですね😊。

＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「不文律」 = 「trigger」＞
今回出てきた「不文律」の英訳は、「trigger」になります。
「不文律と原理がある」を英語で表現する場合、「Reducing things is a trigger」とすればよいですね😊。

I sometimes get the question, "What should I do to increase my annual income?", but my answer is reading.
The material introduced today "Clothed Elephant" is a famous science fiction short story in Japan.
"In the depths of my (elephant’s) heart, there is a voice that says, ‘you are human’.
But I (elephant) didn't quite understand what it was to be human.
So, I read and studied.
It's about what it means to be a human being, what a human being should do, and so on.
I just learned, thought, and followed suit.
If I am useful to this world, it may be because of this.

The best business person I've ever met was a CEO when he was a banker.
He is also my ex-boss, and he always gives me a book when I see him from time to time.
So my current habit of giving books as a gift was also the custom of my former boss😊.
