【PDCA日記 Vol. 475「定住化がいじめを生み出した」】
2020年4月に日本で緊急事態宣言が出されましたが、前年同月（2019年4月）と比較して、自殺者数が2割減少しました。
この背景は色々と語られていますが、2020年4月は学校や会社に行く数が激減し、「人間関係の悩みが薄れたことによって、自殺者数が減少した」という意見が出ています。
今回紹介する資料「いじめとひきこもりの人類史」は「なぜ、ヒトの世界にだけ『いじめ』が成立するのか」という命題に取り組んでおり、「人類の定住化が『いじめ』を生み出した」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「いじめが社会問題化して以来、サルの研究を生業にしていると頻繁に浴びせられる質問が『サルの群れでも、いじめはあるのですか？』というものである。
『サル学者から見たいじめ』という題で、原稿を依頼されることも珍しくない。
ただし、その頃の私の問いへの回答は『ノーです』と、相手の期待を裏切る素っ気ないものだった。
なぜなら『野生の動物は不快と認識するものには近づこうとしないし、危険を感じれば逃げる』からである。
このいたって単純な行動原理は、人類を除くおよそあらゆる動物の野生生活に貫徹している。
だから、いじめなど起こりようもない。
いじめは攻撃の被害対象とされているにもかかわらず、そこになおとどまるゆえに成立するものだから。
これでは、とりつくしまがない。
ただ、最近は少し考えが変わってきつつある。
『ノー』は『ノー』なのだけれども『かれらが野生下で暮らしている限り』と限定するようになった。
そんなサルでも野生でなくなると、人間並みにいじめもどきの行動をするようになることに気づいたからだ。
典型例が、餌付けされた群れである。
人間から生きるための糧をもらうようになると、彼らの社会性に変化が生ずる。
要は危険や脅威を感じてもその場からサルが立ち去らなくなるからにほかならない。
換言すると、どうして人類だけに、いじめは起きるようになったのかというと、われわれの祖先がある時から『不快と認識するものには近づこうとせず、危険を感じれば逃げる』という行動原理を捨てた生活をしだしたからなのだということになる。」（引用終わり）

P.S. インターネットの発達によって、人間はどこにいても何らかの収益を生み出せるようになりました。
今回紹介した資料「いじめとひきこもりの人類史」は、「定住化がいじめを生み出した」と述べていますが、我々は定住化する必要がない時代に入ったと言えます。
言い換えると、「やりたくないことから逃げられる社会」に生きているのかもしれません。
というわけで、余りにもチャレンジングな職場にいる場合、そこから逃げるという選択肢を考えてみましょう。
そうすることが、実は自然なことだったりするものです。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「定住化」=「settlement」＞
今回出てきた「定住化」の英訳は、「settlement」になります。
「定住化がいじめを生み出した」を英語にする場合、「Settlement created bullying」とすればよいですね :-)。

A typical example is a fed herd.
When monkeys get food for living from humans, their sociality changes.
The point is that even if they feel danger or threat, the monkey will not leave the place.
In other words, the reason why bullying has come to occur only to humankind is that from a certain time our ancestors abandoned the principle of behavior that 'do not approach what you perceive as unpleasant and run away if you feel danger'." (Unquote)
