PDCAカフェの話の中で興味を持たれる方が多いのは、住所不定無職時代の私の生活です。
「どのような心理状態だったのですか?」と質問されますが、私は「明るく元気に生きていました」と答えています（カプセルホテルに1ヶ月以上いたのは、色々な意味でチャレンジングでしたが…）。
今回紹介する資料「働かないアリに意義がある」によると、「7割ほどのアリは巣の中で何もしておらず」、「働きアリの2割ほどはずっと働かない」そうです（であれば、「働きアリ」という名称を変えるべきでは…）。
ただ、「働かない働きアリ（ややこしい！）」はサボっているわけではなく、目の前に仕事がないために動かないだけだそうです。
働くアリと働かないアリの違いは、「仕事に気づくか気づかないかだけ」であり、色々な意味で発見があった一冊でした。
今回紹介した資料「働かないアリに意義がある」の「働かないことの意味」、「なぜ上司がいなくてうまく回るのか」、「みんなが疲れると社会は続かない」部分は、「働き方改革」が議論されている日本のビジネス界にとっても、多くの示唆を含んでいると感じました。

P.S. 本書の「お馬鹿さんがいたほうが成功する」部分で、「間違える個体による効率的ルートの発見」が説明されています。
アリはエサを巣に運ぶルートを、アリにしか分からない物質（フェロモン）によって、同僚（？）に伝達しています。
ただ、アリが同僚に伝達しているエサの場所から巣までのルートは、必ずしも最短ではないそうです。
私は東京に来てからアリを見た記憶が殆どありませんが、田舎で生活をしていた時は、大量のアリが列をなしてエサを運んでいるシーンに遭遇したことがあります。
その時も直線のルートを進んでおらず、曲がりくねった形でアリが、一生懸命エサを運んでいたことを覚えています。
ただ、中にはルートから外れて動くアリ（本書でいうところの「お馬鹿さん」）がいるそうで、そのアリが迷っている内に、集団に伝えられているルートよりも近道を見つけることがあるそうです。
そうすると、「今度はうっかりもののフェロモンを追って、新ルートが使われる」と本書は説明しています（アリってやるなぁ）。
住所不定無職時代の私も、本書がいうところの「目の前に仕事がないために動かない」期間だったと考えられなくもなく、カプセルホテルの中で色々な古典を読みふける貴重な時間（？）だったと言えるかもしれません。
迷っている内に、私は「プロジェクト管理」という天職に辿り着いたと考えられなくもなく、「ルートから外れたお馬鹿さん（私のこと :-)」がいる方が面白くなるのは、アリの社会も人間の社会も同じなのかもしれません。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「近道」 = 「shortcut」＞
今回出てきた「近道」の英訳は、「shortcut」になります。
「彼は近道を探した」を英訳する場合、「He looked for a shortcut」となりますね😊。
As I mentioned before, the popular themes in PDCA Diary are regarding interesting French professors and New York's tough and gentle former soldiers.
On the other hand, many people are inquiring my life when I was an unemployed drifter at PDCA cafe.
One participant asked that "What kind of mental state were you (Mr. PDCA :-) at that time?" and I answered "I was living cheerfully and positively" (It was indeed challenging to stay in the capsule hotel more than 1 month in various perspectives...).
According to the material to be introduced today "Ants that do not work have meaning (Japanese only)", "About 70% of ants do nothing in the nest" and "About 20% of ants do not work for good".
Non-working ants are not lazy, but they just do not move, because there is no task in front of them.
The difference between working ants and non-working ants was whether they notice a task or not, and the following items of this book were impressive.

- Why ants can work well without supervisor
- Society does not continue if everybody is exhausted
The above contents are providing many suggestions to the Japanese business world, because people are now discussing reforms of working way :-).

P.S. I was impressed with the phrase "Non-smart ants are necessary for success" in this book.
Ants are telling the routes from food to the nest to the colleagues (others ants) by a special substance (pheromone).
However, it seems that the route from the place of food to the nest which the ants are communicating to the colleagues is not necessarily the shortest.
I have never seen ants in Tokyo, but when I was living in the countryside, I have encountered a scene where a lot of ants were carrying food.
I still remember that ants were carrying the bait by meandering, and they were not moving along the straight route at that time.
On the other hand, non-smart ants sometimes move out of the route being communicating to the group, and there seems to be a case to find a short-cut route, which is more efficient than the original one.
Then, the new route will be utilized by following pheromone of non-smart ant (Ants are amazing!).
When I was an unemployed drifter, this term might be applied as "unable to move, because there was no task in front of me" explained in this book.
From that point of view, it can be said that it was a valuable time (?) for me to read various classical books in the capsule hotel.
I might be lost as a business person when I was an unemployed drifter, but I could find my vocation of project management.
Not only the society of ants, but the human society might become more interesting to have non-smart person like me😊.
