私は大学がミッション系であったこともあり、キリスト教関連の授業も受けてきました。
聖書は世界最大のベストセラーと言われるほど各国で読まれており、英語の勉強をする人は聖書の言葉を知っておくと色々な場面で便利になります。
今回紹介する資料「信じることをためらっている人へ」は「キリスト教「超」入門」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「イエスと神は同じなのか」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「そもそもイエスと神はどういう関係なのか？
イエスは神そのものなのか、あるいは神と別の存在なのか？と少々混乱している人もいるかもしれません。
『三位一体』という言葉を聞いたことがあるでしょうか。
この言葉は、特に昨今の日本では『三位一体の改革』などのように、三つの要素が結びついているという意味で用いられていますが、もともとはキリスト教義の言葉で、神がどのようなものかを言い表した言葉なのです。
すなわち、神には『父なる神』と『子なるキリスト』と『聖霊』という三つのペルソナ（位格）があるが、その本質はひとつの神である、という考え方です。」（引用終わり）

P.S. よく知られていることですが、イエスは執筆を行っていません。
聖書に書かれている内容は約40人のそれぞれ違った背景を持つ男たちによって、1500年の長期に渡って記されたものです。
ただ、聖書は歴史的事実を記したものではなく、フィクションでもありません。
この点が一般的な書物とは違うところであり、聖書が世界最大のベストセラーになった背景なのかもしれませんね。
