【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,594「一度始めれば続けられる」】
「こういうことを始めたい」と考えている人は多いですが、実際に行動に移すケースはまれだったりします。
ポイントは、「一度始めてみなければ、続けられるかどうかすら分からない」ことであると、考えています。
「まず行動してみる」ことによって、結果を検証し、改善策を立てることにつながります。
今回紹介する資料「英語力はメンタルで決まる～自分が変わる英語学習のコツ26~」は、「大人のための正しい英語勉強術」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「『一度始めてみれば、意外と続けられる』ことを体感する」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「先ほど、『最初の一歩は残りの九九歩よりも大切』だと述べました。
人間は環境の変化を嫌う生き物です。
しかし、ひとたびその環境に慣れてしまえば、やがて何とも思わなくなります。
『やる気になるまで待つ』のではなく、『待たずにやる気にしてしまう』、これがポイントです。」（引用終わり）

P.S. 今回紹介した資料「英語力はメンタルで決まる～自分が変わる英語学習のコツ26~」が推奨している「『やる気になるまで待つ』のではなく、『待たずにやる気にしてしまう』」手法は、このPDCA日記でも実践されています。
私の場合、「『書く気になるまで待つ』のではなく、『待たずに書いてしまう』」という感じではありますが。
「待たずに書いてしまう」ことを3年以上続けていますが、ほぼ習慣化されています。
そういえば、ドストエフスキーも「罪と罰」の中で、「人間はどんな環境にも慣れる」と述べていましたね :-)。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「可能な限り」 = 「unexpectedly」＞
今回出てきた「可能な限り」の英訳は、「unexpectedly」になります。
「一度始めてみれば、意外と続けられる」を英語で表現する場合、「Once you start, you can unexpectedly continue」とすればよいですね :-)。
Many people think "I want to start this kind of thing", but they rarely do it.
I think the point is that if you don't start, you won't even know whether you can continue.
“Take action” can help you verify your results and make improvements.
The material that I introduce this time, "English skills are determined by mental skills: 26 Tips for learning English that can change yourself" has a catchphrase of "Correct English studying techniques for adults" and the following phrases were impressive.
"I mentioned earlier that 'the first step is more important than the remaining ninety-nine steps'.
Humans are creatures that dislike environmental changes.
However, once you get used to the new environment, you eventually don't think anything.
The point is not to wait until motivated, but to motivate without waiting." (Unquote)
