【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,578「初めからアイコンタクトをとる」】
過去のPDCA日記でも紹介しましたが、スピーチが得意な人はいません。
スピーチが上手い人は、「数多くのスピーチをこなしてきただけ」であり、場数を踏むことで技術を向上させてきたわけです。
これは外国語にも当てはまり、「苦手だから」という理由で英語を使わないと、永遠に英語が話せるようにはなりません。
英語が得意な人は、「数多くの英語を使い、外国人とたくさん話してきただけ」です。
今回紹介する資料「TED TALKS」は、「スーパープレゼンを学ぶTED公式ガイド」をキャッチフレーズにしており、「はじめからアイコンタクトをとる」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。
「（プレゼンの）ステージに上るとき、ひとつのことだけを考えていればいい。
すぐ目の前に座っている人々と情熱を分かち合うチャンスに、あなたが心から興奮しているということだ。
あわててトークをはじめてはいけない。
舞台に上ったら、何人かを選んで、その目を見つめ、迎え入れるようにうなずき、笑いかける。
そうすれば、準備は万端だ。」（引用終わり）
P.S. 今回紹介した資料「TED TALKS」が述べている「舞台に上ったら、何人かを選んで、その目を見つめる」手法は、私自身もプレゼン時に実践しています。
この際、聴衆の中で笑っている人や前のめりになっている人を選んでアイコンタクトをすることで、自分自身も落ち着きやすくなります。
プレゼンで緊張してしまう人や、発表の機会が多い人は、本書を手に取ってみるとよいですね :-)。
＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「アイコンタクトをとる」 = 「make eye contact」＞
今回出てきた「アイコンタクトをとる」の英訳は、「make eye contact」になります。
「初めからアイコンタクトをとる」を英語で表現する場合、「Make eye contact from the beginning」とすればよいですね :-)。
As mentioned in the past PDCA diary, no one is good at presentation from the scratch.
People who speak well are "Just doing a lot of speeches" and have improved their skills by stepping on the number of places.
This also applies to foreign languages, and if you do not use English because you are not good at it, you will not be able to speak English forever.
People who are good at English just spoke with a lot with foreigners by using English.
The material to be introduced today “TED Talks” explains “Tips and tricks for giving unforgettable speeches and presentations” and the following phrases were impressive.
"When you're on stage, you only have to think about one thing.
You are really excited about the opportunity to share your passion with the people who are right in front of you.
Don't panic and talk.
Once you're on stage, pick a few, stare at their eyes those who are nodding to welcome them, and laughing.
Then you're ready." (Unquote)
