【PDCA日記 Vol. 1,592「名前を覚えて人を動かす」】 

私はアメリカに住んでいた頃、感心したことの一つに「アメリカ人は名前を覚える能力が高い」ことがありました。

英語という言語の影響なのかもしれませんが、挨拶の後に名前をつけることが頻繁にあり、「Good morning, Mr. PDCA」という感じで、日常会話の中で名前がよく登場していました。

今回紹介する資料「こうすれば必ず人は動く」は、「人の心を聞かせる話し方と聞き方がよくわかる」を解説しており、「名前を覚えて人を動かす」部分の以下フレーズが印象的でした。

「この世で自分の名前ほど耳に心地好く響く音はないということは忘れないようにしましょう。

そして人の名前を覚えておいて、それを頻繁に使うということほど、人を喜ばせるものはあまりありません。」（引用終わり）

P.S. 田中角栄元首相は、大臣時代に部下の官僚の名前をよく覚えていてことで知られています。

ある官僚が田中角栄氏に「君の名前はなんだっけ？」と聞かれ、名字を答えたところ、「上の名前は分かっておる、下の名前を聞いたのだ」と返されたことは有名です。

田中角栄氏のように名前を覚えるのはチャレンジですが、普段の会話で名前を入れて話すことは、ビジネステクニック上も有効だと感じています :-)。

＜ Mr. PDCAのボンジュール英語「動かす」 = 「move」＞

今回出てきた「動かす」の英訳は、「move」になります。

「名前を覚えて人を動かす」を英語で表現する場合、「Memorize names and move people」とすればよいですね :-)。

When I lived in the United States, one of my interests was that "Americans are good at remembering names."

It may be due to the influence of the English language, but names are often used after greetings, and the names often appeared in everyday conversations, like "Good morning, Mr. PDCA".

The material to be introduced today "How to Win Friends & Influence People" explains "Let's understand the way of speaking and listening to people's hearts well" and the following phrases were impressive.

"Don't forget that in this world there is no sound as pleasant to your ears as your name.

And there's nothing more pleasing than remembering a person's name and using it often." (Unquote)
